Energy Group
The Sustainable Dunblane Energy Group is working on both reducing the amount of energy we use in Dunblane and increasing the amount of energy we generate for ourselves. The Energy Group is currently working on three projects:
Energy
Efficiency Project - There are three projects within this title, the first will analyse methods to improve the energy efficiency of hard to treat homes in the Dunblane area, buy carrying out detailed surveys of the buildings as well as conducting pressure tests on them a taking thermal images. This research will be conducted on several homes in the area with the resulting information being disseminated to all other hard to treat homes within the Dunblane Community Council wards.
We will also be conducting very similar tests on a selection of local community buildings and helping them to find ways to implement the measures that the research reveals would be most effective.
The final area that we will be tackling will be to help the local schools look at energy efficiency and climate change. The funding that we have secured will be used to provide educational resources and Continuing Professional Development for the teachers, as well as helping to identify speakers and workshops that can visit the schools.
Domestic Renewables Project - this project is looking at ways to encourage households in Dunblane to install renewable energy technology such as water-heating solar panels and wood-fuelled boilers. It is also looking a ways to make buying these technologies more affordable.
Community Renewables Project - this project is looking at the feasibility of installing larger scale, community-owned renewable energy technology to generate both energy and income for Dunblane. Other communities already generate energy from wind, water and even cow poo! There are lots of possibilities and this project will set out to explore them further.
